I’ve been trapped in a dreamy Hollywood land, painting away so wrapped up in it that I haven’t gotten around to sharing anything about it here on my blog. Those of you who follow me on social media have been able to catch snippets here and there. So, as a treat I have three paintings to share with you all at once and also some news about my Daily Paintworks auctions and how through them you can help Nepal.
Movie scenes have inspired me as long as I can remember. I try to stay away but they always seem to pull me back in. I just love how one image can tell so much on it’s own without the whole story around it. See if you can guess where I pulled my inspiration from.
This first one is inspired by a scene from one of my favorite movies. This auction starts today. I love how her expression is so calm, so cool and she just knows she’s got it goin’ on! I think the effect is super attractive. Click here to see this auction.
In this second one I really tried to capture the vulnerability in her expression. It was so fun to work on – something about that deep black that just felt so rich and intense. This is a larger piece that I plan to auction starting on Monday. Click here to see this auction.
With this last one I decided to try out a limited four color palette which was a total challenge. That sexy confidence that drew me to paint this was especially tough to capture without using any deep warm hues. The auction for this one will start on Tuesday. Click here to see this auction.
A glamorous gift
As I’m sure you all know, the death and destruction caused by the earthquake in Nepal has been devastating. Reading the news about it makes me wish I could help somehow. Then I had a thought – maybe I can help a little through the sales of my art. This realization brought me to the decision to donate 10% of the sales of these three paintings to Global Giving’s Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund. It’s a win win situation, you can treat yourself to some beautiful art for your home and through that help those in Nepal. Every bit helps!
